Below are the top 10 most efficient MUVs based on their highway fuel consumption.

All of the cars are diesels, some boasting newer engine technology than others. Although the Tata Indigo Marina is the winner, special mention needs to go to the Mahindra Bolero which has a whopping 2.5 litre engine compared to the Indigo's 1.4 litre, yet manages almost as good fuel economy.

The most efficient muv is the Tata Indigo Marina.

The Indigo has a 70bhp Direct Injection Common Rail diesel engine with a variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT). The VGT is able to change its aspect ratio according to the vehicle's engine rev speed leading to greater efficiency.

Unlike many of the other MUVs this car does only seat 5 passengers, so you'll need to look elsewhere if you need to carry more people.
