Most Efficient Sedans
Below are the top 10 most efficient sedans in terms of kilometres travelled per litre of fuel consumed on the highway.
All of the cars are diesels and almost all return in excess of 20 kilometres per litre. Bearing in mind the lower cost of diesel versus petrol and the fact that new diesel engines are now very refined and drive like petrol cars, the below vehicles are all very attractive propositions.
The only expensive sedan here is the Renault Fluence at 13,00,000. The remaining cars are all priced between 5,60,000 and 9,20,000.

Tata Indigo CS eVX
The most efficient sedan is the Tata Indigo CS eVX.
The Indigo has a 4 cylinder 16 valve Common Rail turbo diesel engine which meets BS4 emission requirements (0.50 g/km of carbon dioxide). The 1.4 litre engine produces 70PS of power which makes it both more powerful and more economical on fuel than the 1.2 litre petrol variant of this car.
At 5,80,000 the Tata Indigo CS eVX is also the cheapest of the top 6 efficient sedans available in India. The next cheapest is the Toyota Etios which costs 65,000 more.
