Most Economical People Carriers
Here are the top 10 most economical people carriers in the U.K. in order
of combined MPG.
All the vehicles listed are able to carry 7 passengers in 3 rows of seats.
In many the third row of seats, and sometimes the second, can be folded
flat to create extra boot space, which can be a bit on the small side when
these cars are configured as 7 seaters.
Many people carriers will live most of their lives in the city where the
case is even stronger for the Renault Grand Scenic. Its urban MPG is a massive
12 more than the next nearest. This is a considerable cost saving.

Renault Grand Scenic
The most economical people carrier is the Renault Grand Scenic. If you need
to move seven people around you won't find a car that can do it with cheaper
running costs.
The Grand Scenic uses the same 1.5 litre dCi diesel unit found in many other
Renault's including the tiny Clio supermini. As such don't expect any speed
records to be broken by the large and heavy Grand Scenic, which additionally
has to cope with up to seven passengers and their luggage. Reviewers do
however say that its pleasant to drive and although the engine lacks outright
power there's plenty of torque.
The third row of seats in the Grand Scenic fold flat and the middle row
fold forwards.
